CYHA Winter Hockey
Welcome to the new CYHA Hockey Registration!

This first year, you will be required to create a new login/password to register your player. To be able to accurately track families, one parent/profile must be used to register all of your players.
Note: All registration discount codes are entered when you are in the Price Selection screen. The field is in the top right of the screen.
In addition, you will need to have 2 documents on hand prior to this year's registration. They will now be stored on your profile within Crossbar.
- Proof of Enrollment (Annually): This can be a simple snap/image from the parent portal/campus portal. But it can be any document that contains the players name, current school and current school year. This will be an annual ask going forward.
- Birth Certificate (one time load):
- Players new to CYHA: A pdf or image of the state issued birth certificate will be required to be uploaded during the registration. Please have it on hand.
- Players returning to CYHA: Your Birth certicate should be on file, but the system requires an upload this one time. If you have the document handy, please upload it. If not, please download the "Returning Player" doc below and use that for the upload.
The remaining item needed is your player's current USA Hockey ID. Please obtain one here if you haven't already completed the registration. Please be sure to use your players correct legal name (including the generation indicator IV, V, etc) and their correct birth date in the registration.
In addition, for parents in separate households -
- The address on the USAH ID is the one that will be used to determine eligibility to play. Please use the household with the in-district address or you player may have to be denied by CYHA. Also note: It requires multiple approvals to change the address on an ID once it is created.
- Family Volunteer hours are managed by single household account/profile. All players within that household must be registered by the same Crossbar Account to be considered part of the family DIBS tracking. Any players who are registered under different accounts will be responsible for the full volunteer commitment.

Information Below is for Reference and worth at least a browse!
Players who are open Enrolled - School Attendance Waivers
- MN Hockey rules state that a player must play hockey with the association either where they live unless they are a 1st year Squirt, Jr Gold or Girls 19U level player. Then, a school waiver may be requested to play for the school they attend. D10 does not make exceptions to this rule for siblings, change of address, etc.
- State of MN property tax site will be used to verify residence of all players home address and school district. If the name listed on the property tax site does not match the player/parent in the registration – or the property tax info cannot be found, the family will be required to provide at least 2 of the following as proof of residence per,, MN Hockey Handbook page 24. If proof of residence is not provided when requested, then the player will not be allowed to participate in CYHA Hockey tryouts or be rostered on any CYHA team.
Valid forms of residence proof are:
- Copy of Property Tax Statement
- Copy of a Rental Lease agreement
- Copy of a Current Drivers License
- Copy of Current Utility Bill
It is the expectation of MN Hockey and D10 that all new open enrollment waivers for 1st year Squirts/U10 are completed and signed off PRIOR to the player stepping on the ice at tyouts!
Any open enrolled player who will be a 1st year Squirt, Jr Gold or Girls 19U player will need to complete the MN Hockey waiver form which is below in the Reference Docs. The family must
- Route the completed form to their releasing district hockey president (home district); along with a copy of proof of enrollment (explained above).
- Once the releasing president signs off and returns the waiver; the family must send it to the receiving CYHA president for signature.
- The CYHA president will finish obtaining the district signatures for the waiver.
Discretionary/annual waivers may be requested, but they are only approved under specific conditions:
- JR Gold or 19U player that is unable to play with their home district for either lack of a team or too many players in their home association.
- If the home district does not have a place for a player: ie. no team for that level player or gender.
- If CYHA has a lack of specific players to fill a team or a goalie need, they may request a discretionary waiver for out of district players.
Note to all IN DISTRICT returning families planning a new home
If you are currently an in district family who have children who play CYHA Hockey - know that if you choose to move to an address that is out of district, you will be affected by the above school waiver restriction. It doesn't make a difference that your player has played with CYHA for multiple years and would still attend CYHA schools after you move out of district; they will be required to play hockey for the association mandated by your new address. The exception is if they were going to be a 1st year squirt, Jr Gold or Girls 19U as described above; then a school waiver may be requested.
Again, this is the rules as defined by MN hockey and District 10 enforces them; CYHA has no control over this.
Eligible Ages by Level for 2026-27
Any player with a birth year of 2009 or older will be required to complete the annual Safesport course before being added to a roster. Link below.
Goalie Families
CYHA has a policy to reimburse goalies for their equipment needs.
Check out the policy and details on the Goalie Zone. If you have questions, please reach out to the Goalie Director!
Note: It is no longer an option to register a mite player of any level as a goalie. All mite goalies will be required to participate in the skating drills.
Grade Up Information
Players that have a late summer birthday who grade wise fall into a lower hockey level than their classmates - have the option when they move to Squirts to play with their classmates.
For those June-July-August birthdays, you will see the option to pick the Hockey level where their birthday places them - in addition to the level that aligns with their grade/classmates.
You will make this choice to play with the older level once, and be expected to honor that decision throughout the rest of their hockey with CYHA.
Play Down to a lower level
It is not allowed for a player to play at a lower level than what is determined by their birthdate.
If you have extenuating circumstances that would warrant this consideration, a request must be made in writing to the MN Hockey Registrar and the D10 District Director for approval.
Note: There has been 1 situation in the previous 16 years, CYHA has had 1 player approved to play down to a lower level.
